Introducing Tyrano Translator!
Tyrano Translator is a tool to support localization of games made with TyranoBuilder or TyranoScript into other languages. You can use Tyrano Translator to easily extract game text, which can be translated using Tyrano Translator itself or software such as Excel, etc. and then build a localized version of the game using the translated text and assets. Text is is converted using UTF-16 and so Tyrano Translator can be used with any language!
■ Tyrano Translator is presently in beta version and bugs ARE still present. Be sure to back up your project folder before using Tyrano Translator!
■ Any feedback (positive or negative) that you may provide will be gratefully received! Please send to email@example.com.
■ Tyrano Translator may be used for free, for private or commercial use.
Here’s how to use it!
Download Trano Translator
Download your preferred version of Trano Translator from the following links:
Select the Game Project to Localize
Run translator.exe (translator.app on MacOS) to launch Trano Translator and click “Select Project”.
From the window that opens, select the index.html file of the project to be localized.
Now that your project is selected, let’s do the actual localization (translation) work.
Translate and Preview
The list on the left side of the screen (①) is the list of scenario files.
Select the scenario you’d like to translate, and the text is extracted and displayed on the right side (②).
Then enter the corresponding translation for each line of text in the “After translation” column.
Click “Preview localized game” at the bottom left of the screen to preview the translated text in-game.
Translate Character Names
Select the “Characters” tab, to show the character names and enter the translations as you did with the message text.
Set Tags to Be Translated
You may have other objects other than text to translate such as choices or text on buttons.
In these cases, select the “Tag List” tab.
Specify the tags and parameters you want to translate here, and they will be extracted on the translation window.
The [glink], [ptext], and [link] tags are registered by default.
For example, to translate this macro tag: [mymacro value = “I want to translate here”] Press the “Add” button, “mymacro” as the tag, the parameter to “value” and “I want to translate here” will be extracted for translation.
Export to and Import from CSV
In addition to working in the Trano Translator window, you can also export the extracted text to CSV and edit it with Excel etc. You can also use CSVs to:
· Combine game texts into a single CSV file
· Break a CSV file into separate scenario files
Use the buttons at the bottom left of the screen to import or export.
■ “CSV Export” “CSV Import”
A CSV file will be generated for each selected scenario. Multiple selections can be made.
■ “CSV Export as Single File” “CSV Import from Single File”
Export all text in the game to a single file.
Please export before previewing.
The CSV file format is tab separated UTF-16 BOM.
Build Your Localized Game!
